Some of the stories we will be reading this week are:
One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss is a 1960 children's book by Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel). A simple rhyming book for learner readers, it is a book with a freewheeling plot about a boy and a girl, and the many amazing creatures they have for friends and pets. One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish was part of the Beginner Book Video series which included Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! and The Foot Book.

The Rainbow Fish is an international bestseller and a modern classic. Eye-catching foilstamping, glittering on every page, offers instant child-appeal, but it is the universal message at the heart of this simple story about a beautiful fish, who learns to make friends by sharing his most prized possessions, that gives the book its lasting value.

In math, will be working with numbers. We will work on how to represent and recognize numbers using tally marks, ten frames, name of the number, one-to-one correspondence. We will begin working this week with numbers 0-7. We will be also be working with AB Patterns.

Our Nursery Rhyme this week is: “Five Green Spreckled Frogs”
We are attaching you the link of the videos of this song we will be learning throughout the week. We will learn two versions of this nursery rhyme. Just a little tip to have fun at home listening and acting out our song.

In Science we will begin our unit about Five Senses. If you have any books that are related to this topic, we will really appreciate if you let us borrow them from you.

If your kids like Elmer, they will be pleased to see that McKee has written quite a collection of Elmer books.

Some of the stories we will be reading this week are:
Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs, by Mo Willems
This is another fun book from the creator of the Pigeon series and the Elephant and Piggy books.  Not only do kids love this one, but you’ll appreciate all the little jokes thrown in.  When the dinosaurs set a trap of three giant bowls of chocolate pudding, “a poorly supervised little girl named Goldilocks came along.”   Goldilocks is clueless that she has just fallen into a trap until she hears the dinosaurs talking about their catch.  “Goldilocks took a minute to stop and think, which was longer than she was used to stopping and thinking.”

How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight? by Jane Yolen & Mark Teague is a fun rhyming story about dinosaurs and their silly bedtime routines. It is a great one to read at bedtime, too! While Jane Yolen has several dinosaur books in this collection, this the only one we have read {shame on me}. I guess I have my work cut out for me at the library this week!

In math, will be working with numbers. We will work on how to represent and recognize numbers using tally marks, ten frames, name of the number, one-to-one correspondence. We will continue working this week with numbers 0-5.

Our Nursery Rhyme this week is: “Five Little Ducks”
We are attaching you the link of the videos of this song we will be learning throughout the week. We will learn two versions of this nursery rhyme. Just a little tip to have fun at home listening and acting out our song.

In our Science unit, we will continue learning about PARTS OF THE BODY. We will begin with this unit this week. Some of the vocabulary words we will be learning this week are: head, mouth, eyes, ears, nose, toes, fingers, arm, elbow, and hands. If you have any poster or any other material that you are willing to share with the class, we would appreciate if you will let us borrow them from you.

Supply list: If you still haven't brought all the materials yet, I'll be very much thankful if could send them this week. We will be sending a note detailing the materials you’re missing. Thank you to the ones that send their materials already.
Thanks a lot for your help!

HONDURAS: September, our Independence month, is coming full of exciting and great events. On Sept. 13th, Nursery and Prek are assigned to make a stand describing ATLANTIDA. We would like to focus on Garifunas, La Ceiba and Tela beaches. We need your support in this, we need garífuna music instruments, dressing, it is also helpful anything you have of Marine theme, such as fishing nets, beach shells, an anchor or any other thing that describes the beach, boats or Garifuna. We will be sending these things back to you on Monday, Sept. 18th. Please label the things that we will borrow from you with your kid’s name or your family last name as you wish. Here are some ideas of how we would like to decorate our stand.
