Dear Prek Parents,

This week we will continue learning about our abc. This week we will be  studying about the letter Dd. The vocabulary for this letter is: dog, doughnut, dolphin, dinosaur, door, doll, duck, drum, dress, dice, donkey

Child assigned should take from three (3) to five (5) items that they have at home that begin with this letter. Items should be at school on Monday and we will send them back on Friday. For this week we have Christian Andree Flores.

Note 1: If you would like to share eatable things such as carrot doughnut, dumplings etc. for children to taste. It would be awesome send it on Friday so that we close up our letter unit.

Some of the stories we will be reading this week are:
Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs, by Mo Willems
This is another fun book from the creator of the Pigeon series and the Elephant and Piggy books.  Not only do kids love this one, but you’ll appreciate all the little jokes thrown in.  When the dinosaurs set a trap of three giant bowls of chocolate pudding, “a poorly supervised little girl named Goldilocks came along.”   Goldilocks is clueless that she has just fallen into a trap until she hears the dinosaurs talking about their catch.  “Goldilocks took a minute to stop and think, which was longer than she was used to stopping and thinking.”

Resultado de imagen para How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?
How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight? by Jane Yolen & Mark Teague is a fun rhyming story about dinosaurs and their silly bedtime routines. It is a great one to read at bedtime, too! While Jane Yolen has several dinosaur books in this collection, this the only one we have read {shame on me}. I guess I have my work cut out for me at the library this week!

Some of the stories we will be reading this week are:

If You Give a Cat a Cupcake, by Laura Numeroff
This is another title in the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie series. While this one feels a bit more contrived than others in the series, the pictures and story are still irresistible.  If you give a cat a cupcake, he’s going to want sprinkles to go with it… and on the story goes.

The Carrot Seed, by Ruth Krauss
Resultado de imagen para the carrot seed bookThis is an extremely simple story that has been popular for generations.  A little boy plants a carrot seed, but everyone else is quite sure a plant won’t come up. They get quite a surprise at the end of the story

Poor Brontorina!  How will she be able to achieve her dream of being a ballerina when she’s too big for the studio?  Thankfully, her teacher realizes that it’s not that Brontorina is too big.  It’s that the studio is too small!  This is a fun story which also teaches a good lesson: find a way to include everyone, even those that are a little different.
