Dear Prek Parents,

Reminders:
- Every Tuesday Homework is send home. Homework should be back to school on Thursday. Please don’t forget to send the folder and notebook back


This week we will continue learning about our abc. We will be working on recognizing the letters with their sound, letter formation, vocabulary of the letter, remember always emphasizing on the short vowel sounds. This week we will be studying about the letter Oo. The vocabulary for this letter is: ox, oatmeal, octagon, octopus, overalls, olives, ostrich, old, orange, otter, oven, omelette

Child assigned should take at least five (5) items that they have at home that begin with this letter. Items should be at school on Monday and we will send them back on Friday. For this week we have  Miguel Varela . 

Note: If you would like to share eatable things such as oatmeal cookies, onion rings, orange juice, orange, omelette, oreo cookies etc. for children to taste. It would be awesome if instead of Monday you send it on Friday so that we close up our letter unit.

Some of the stories we will be reading this week are:

Owl Babies, by Martin Waddell This is the story of three baby owls who wake up one night in their hole in the tree to find that their mother has gone, so they sit on the branch and wait, wondering when she will return. At last she does, and they all bounce up and down with joy, welcoming her home

In math, will continue working with numbers. We will review numbers 0-10 on how to represent and recognize numbers using tally marks, ten frames, number formation, name of the number, one-to-one correspondence, and sequencing.

Our Nursery Rhyme this week is: “Old McDonald”

We are attaching you the link of the videos of this song we will be learning throughout the week. We will learn two versions of this nursery rhyme. Just a little tip to have fun at home listening and acting out our song.





In Social Studies we will continue  our amazing  unit about Community Helpers. We are going to be discussing the different types of professions.  Children will get the chance to name the tools, transportations and what does each of the professions do. Some of the vocabulary words we will be focusing are: hair stylist, firefighter, policeman, doctor, vet, nurse, builder, chef, farmer, teacher, mailman, dentist.  If you have any books or posters, or any other material that you would like to share with us it would be greatly appreciated. Children can bring any of these transportation and community helper’s objects they have at home to share and play we will send them two weeks.

To close our Community Helpers unit we are planning on a Show and Tell Presentation that will be on Friday, February 1 st . Each child will be assigned with an occupation, they will have to answer the following questions. "What do I do?" "How do I transport?" "What tools do I use?" "Where do I work?" Children should come dressed as the community helper that they will be assigned. We are NOT demanding an expensive or fancy suit, it is up to you how and what you are going to use. Children should also bring a poster illustrating the questions, this will be a help while they present.  
The assigned occupations for each child will be sended by the WApp group on Monday. 
Enjoy doing this project with your child. Involve them in everything you plan. Any doubts or questions please contact us as soon as possible.



It is hard to believe that the 100th day of school is quickly approaching and so it is time for us to start planning the festivities. This exciting day is going to be on  Wednesday  January 30. For this, we would like for you to help your child come dressed with a “100 day of school dressing project.”  Some items that you may want to use are pennies, cotton balls, q-tips, dot stickers, legos, popsicle sticks, wiggly eyes, buttons, etc. The following pictures are just examples of what you can come up 
with:

Nora slams windows, bangs doors, and upsets furniture, to no avail. January 14-18

    January 15 Please take note that Merlin Pictures, will be taking the students Yearbook  Picture, try not to miss school this day, do not wear white. Also they will be sending order forms for parents to fill out for siblings/ friends pictures .  


- This Friday, January 18th is a half day. Early Dismissal  2nd Quarter conferences, in a need basis, will be held in the afternoon 1:00-3:00 pm. If I do not request a conference and you would like to meet, please let me know so we can set up an appointment.

There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, JANUARY 21. We will be commemorating Martin King Luther Jr.'s Birthday.
Classes resume on Tuesday, January 22th.

***Note: On Friday, the assigned student, will have to share eatable things for 19 friends such as marshmallows, mandarins, mango, macaroni and cheese, milk, mint candies, mozzarella sticks, M&M, muffins, etc. for children to taste. We do this to close our letter unit. Thank you for your support!!

This week we will continue learning about our abc. This week we will be studying about the letter Ll. The vocabulary for this letter is: lion, log, lamp, ladder, ladybug, lock, lines, lollipop, lemon, leaf, lobster, legs.

Child assigned should take at least five (5) items that they have at home that begin with this letter. Items should be at school on Monday and we will send them back on Friday. For this week we have Leonor Ulloa 

Note 1: If you would like to share 17 eatable things such as lemonade, lemon pie, , lettuce, lasagna, lemon bars , life savers, lucky charms cereal ,lemon ice tea, licorice ( candy )  etc. for children to taste. The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle is one of those books that’s packed with all kinds of learning. Learning about time, learning about animals, learning vocabulary, learning about manners, and learning about ways that authors use text to teach.













Lost by David McPhail   A adorable story of a 
young boy that finds a lost a bear and does everything he can to help the bear find its way back home. The boy attempts to use all his resources including a library. Finally when they read the bear's home they waived goodbye but then the little boy realized he was lost now and the bear offered to help him find his home.










Over and Under the snow by Kate Messner It is an information book all about a girl who goes skiing with her daddy, and he tells her all about the animals who live under and over the snow in the wintertime . Sometimes the girl and her daddy are normal size and the animals are tiny and sometimes the animals are big and the people tiny below them. 








In math, will be working with numbers. We will work on how to represent and recognize numbers using tally marks, ten frames, and number formation, name of the number, one-to-one correspondence, and rote counting 1-30 We will continue working this week with numbers 0-10. concepts : over / under
