Dear Prek Parents,
This coming Thursday, Feb. 22nd
we will be having our first PREK field
trip to AGAFAM! stuents from Universidad Agricola Panamericana Zamorano is
bringing a Baby Farm for kids. We
have been invited to assist.! We will be sending the permission slip on Tuesday,
Feb. 20th. This Field Trip has a cost of L. 70.00 which include: transportation to and from AGAFAM, the entrance to the
park, and a small snack (juice and cookie).
The trip lasts around one hour and a half. We will assist from 9:30am to
11:00am. Please send the money and the permission slip signed by Wednesday,
Feb. 21st.
We are requesting to PLEASE dress your kid as Farmer for this trip!!

MIDTERM REPORTS – Midterm
reports were issued last Friday, Feb. 16th. These should be signed by parents and returned to the teacher as soon
as possible. If you would like a conference and one was not requested by
the teacher, please call the school to set up an appointment.
Reminders:
- Every Tuesday Homework is send home. Homework should be back to school
on Thursday. Please don’t forget to send the folder back
-On Tuesday we send a Ziploc Bag home in the folder, so that you can
send things that begin with the letter of the week.
-Please make sure your child is
only bringing toys of the letter of the week we are studying. We have been
receiving children with toys that do not belong to the letter.
This week we will continue learning about our abc. We will be working on
recognizing the letters with their sound, letter formation, vocabulary of the
letter, remember always emphasizing on the short vowel sounds. This week we
will be studying about the letter Rr. The vocabulary for this letter is: rabbit, robot,
rocket, raccoon, rainbow, run, rhino, rug, ring, red, rose, rake
Children assigned should take at least five (5) items that they have at
home that begin with this letter. Items should be at school on Monday and we
will send them back on Friday. For this week we have Jimena (Prek”A”) and Paula(Prek”B”).
***Note: On Friday, the
assigned students, will have to share eatable
things for 22 friends such as rosquillas,
raisins, raspberry, rice, ravioli, reese’s, ruffles, ritz cookies, etc. for
children to taste. We do this to close our letter unit.

We would like your support on occasionally review the ABC’s letter names
and sound. Here are some songs we use in class every day.

hen finds none of her lazy friends willing to help her plant, harvest, or grind
wheat into flour, but all are eager to eat the bread she makes from it
In math, will continue working with numbers. We will work with numbers 0-12 on how to represent and identify
using tally marks, ten frames, number formation, and name of the number,
one-to-one correspondence, and sequencing. We will also be working with Graphing. Children will be able to
represent a number of objects on a graph.
We would like your support on occasionally review counting and numbers.

Our Nursery Rhyme this week is: ““Row,
Row your Boat”
We are attaching you the link of the videos of this song we will be
learning throughout the week. We will learn two versions of this nursery rhyme.
Just a little tip to have fun at home listening and acting out our song.
In Social
Studies we will continue the unit about Farm
Animals. We are going to learning and discussing Farm life and animals that
live in the farm. The different between farm animals and no Farm Animals. Some
of the vocabulary words we will be focusing are: cow, horse, pig, duck, sheep, rooster, dog, cat, goat, rabbit, donkey,
turkey. If you have any books or posters, ideas or any other material that
you would like to share with us it would be greatly appreciated.

Dr. Seuss has
a collection of more than 50 books and we would really like the children to be
exposed to most of them. Next week, Feb.
26th to March 2nd, we will be doing an author study
about him and we will celebrate his 104th birthday. In order to
honor Dr. Seuss’ birthday, we will be doing many different activities
throughout the following week. Here is the dress-up calendar for next week:

We have talked to the students that we have started the hot season in
Honduras. PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR CHILD WITH
A WATER BOTTLE EVERY DAY. Have them wear light clothes; they can bring a
hat to protect from the sun, put sunscreen on their face and arms.
