January 14-18



Reminders:
- Every Tuesday Homework is send home. Homework should be back to school on Thursday. Please don’t forget to send the folder back



    January 15 Please take note that Merlin Pictures, will be taking the students Yearbook  Picture, try not to miss school this day, do not wear white. Also they will be sending order forms for parents to fill out for siblings/ friends pictures .  


- This Friday, January 18th is a half day. Early Dismissal  2nd Quarter conferences, in a need basis, will be held in the afternoon 1:00-3:00 pm. If I do not request a conference and you would like to meet, please let me know so we can set up an appointment.

There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, JANUARY 21. We will be commemorating Martin King Luther Jr.'s Birthday.
Classes resume on Tuesday, January 22th.

This week we will continue learning about our abc. We will be working on recognizing the letters with their sound, letter formation, vocabulary of the letter, remember always emphasizing on the short vowel sounds. This week we will be studying about the letter Mm. The vocabulary for this letter is: mop, mouse, money, mud, monkey, mushroom, mask, moon, microphone, map, markers, magnet.

Child assigned should take at least five (5) items that they have at home that begin with this letter. Items should be at school on Monday and we will send them back on Friday. For this week we have Madison Davis 

***Note: On Friday, the assigned student, will have to share eatable things for 19 friends such as marshmallows, mandarins, mango, macaroni and cheese, milk, mint candies, mozzarella sticks, M&M, muffins, etc. for children to taste. We do this to close our letter unit. Thank you for your support!!

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff The consequences of giving a cookie to this energetic mouse run the young host ragged, but young readers will come away smiling at the antics that tumble like dominoes through the pages of this delightful picture book.

The Mitten by Jan Brett One by one, woodland animals find it and crawl in; first, a curious mole, then a rabbit, a badger and others, each one larger than the last. Finally, a big brown bear is followed in by a tiny brown mouse and what happens next makes for a wonderfully funny climax.

In math, will be working with numbers. We will review numbers 0-10 on how to represent and recognize numbers using tally marks, ten frames, number formation, name of the number, one-to-one correspondence, and sequencing.

Our Nursery Rhyme this week is: “Five 

Little Monkeys
We are attaching you the link of the videos of this song we will be learning throughout the week. We will learn two versions of this nursery rhyme. Just a little tip to have fun at home listening and acting out our song.

In Social Studies we will begin the unit about Transportation. We are going to be discussing the different types of vehicles. Children will get the chance to name vehicles that travel by air, by land and by water. Some of the vocabulary words we will be focusing are: airplane, boat, air balloon, car, bus, bicycle, motorcycle, submarine, ambulance, helicopter, train, fire truck and rocket.  Children can bring any of these transportation toys that they have at home, to share and play for this week
